I am doing a project on economic

a hair cut

a pair of jean

a pay phone call

comic book or magazine

a television

a school lunch

back in 1940's-1980's

Do anyone know the price back in the 1940's-1980's?

I can approximate for the early 1970's:

Shoes - tennis shoes: $10-12 dress shoes: $20

hair cut - $3.50 style and cut - $6

Jeans - $7.50

pay phone - 10 cents

comic book - 25 - 35 cents

TV - ??? maybe $300?

school lunch - 35 cents at my school

Late 70's, with inflation, every thing went up in price:

Shoes - tennis shoes: $15 dress shoes: $22

hair cut - $12

jeans - $18 - $45 (designer jeans were in)

phone call - 20 cents

comic book - 50 to 75 cents

TV - ????

school lunch - 55 cents

You can try to find an old Sears catalog at a library to see if they have prices on some items to help you compare.

That's a 40 year period. The prices would have changed up and down many many times. There's no way anyone can tell you all that.

I'll give you this: when I was in high school, in the late 1960's, school lunch cost 30 cents, pay phones were a nickel for a local call; comic books cost a dime (special editions might cost 25cents).
