how people say black people are always trying to be white by strightening their hair? - Well everyone else does why cant we?
Bleaching skin? - This is all the media's fault saying that lighter skin is more bueatiful. when its really a matter of opinion. Its also annoying how all successful black people in hollywood always come out in newspapers or magazines looking lighter skined than they really are, almost looking like a tanned white person.
But white people try to be black too
Going to our hotter more exiotic countrys to get a tan and coming back looking orange with really bad cornrow.
And recently its the new style now to dye your hair black/ or darker brown..
or get plastic surgery of thicker lips or a bigger bum with more curves.
After looking at all of this you can see how being racist really stupid, basically if ur racist dont go on holiday!! =D
lol i duno if that question made sense %26gt;.%26lt; its confusing..i know
thank you for your answers ^.^
Isn't this weird?
i dont think that black people are trying to be white...its just happens and everyone begins to criticize. Its not like straight hair is prettier or anything...it easier to handle(prob why i also straighten my hair to get rid of the random waves my hair turns into at times)...also, beauty has no definition. Everyone sees the world differently and each has their own definition of beautiful, therefore, people should not pay attention to famous people attempting to be beautiful and just be themselves.
I also find it ironic that people think that tanned skin is beautiful...since tanning gives you wrinkles and makes you age faster.
Isn't this weird?
i would NEVER "try to be black".
Isn't this weird?
yes. I think we should all be ourselves because we can NEVER be anything else no matter how hard we try.
Isn't this weird?
I guess it's a little strange.
I'm white but prefer latina skin colour myself. They has hot girls fo' shizzle.
Isn't this weird?
yeah .. it's wierd ... I agree with your assesment of both sides ... I would chalk it up to many people want to be what they're not
Isn't this weird?
you do realize thsat hispanics also have thivk lips and look "orange" as you put it? so humm yea...also about saying that it's all the media's fault, humm no...people have a mind of their own and have to make teir own decision, they just want someone to blame. simple as that...third there is no such thing as acting white or acting black...that is purely stereotyping! wanna know how we can slove all of this? BY THINKING! when people think before talking/typing, they get the pure facts!
Isn't this weird?
i neva heard plz say dat we r tryin 2 be like white people but i think they r tryin 2 be like us by tanning, rapping, ect.. no race really OWNS anything its a free country if i wanna bleach mii skin, damn it i will but i wont cuz im black and luuuuuuuvvvvvvvviiiiinnnnnnn iiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!... ;-0
Isn't this weird?
Yes, it is weird. Although when I was a teenager and never heard of racism before, I did go out and have my hair curled, just because I wanted something different. I didn't like it much. I don't think all people who change their hairstyle or their appearance try to be of another race, they are just tired of the same old thing. I'm sure it's the same for black people. I once worked with a girl from Thailand. She shaved her forearms because she wanted them to be hairy. She said it's beautiful. Then the woman with the hairy arms will often pay a bunch of money to have them removed. Whatever suits your fancy. The greener grass syndrome.

I think that you a responding to one of Mike questions or another racist. I think that people have their own standard of beauty. Some people like their women curvey and others do not. People do strange things to live up to these standards of beauty.
Isn't this weird?
I think it has to do with people wanting what they don't have. For example, people with thin hair want thick curly hair and vice versa.
Isn't this weird?
Yea, you are babbling for the most part. But I think I know where you're going. It is weird that some blacks try to look whiter and some whites try to look darker or "blackish" so to speak.
I would agree that it's nothing more ridiculous that a racist person trying to look like the people they prejudice against. That's like saying I hate gatorade, while drinking powerade. People who do such are living contradictions.
Conversely, racism comes from low self esteem so maybe people who do that are just jealous. They hate themselves and hate you for having features they wish they had... Who knows...
Shlane, she's not talking about acting white/black. She's talking about changing your features to reflect another race.
Isn't this weird?
Not much comment to make...other then the "orange" look is usually a bad fake tan, normally because the wrong shade was used...makeup foundation is the same way.
Isn't this weird?
Well everybody has their own thing, im not racist i think many black pplz are so beautiful i just adore the guy that act in the movie Beauty Shop, but n e ways nah maybe they want to improve their appearance by the hair u knw.It shouldnt be racism u knw why cuz us we the same color inside RED.I am white yes but i have big lips, hips (latina) butt, i respect everybody no matter.Good Points there!!!I love everybody =^.^= jo
